On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Harry Holt, the President of BITHGROUP Technologies, accompanied by Hardware Manger, Kim Campbell, and Chaya Jenkins, the Human Resource Manager visited Lyon Mills Elementary School. Their mission was to distribute headsets that 1st and 2nd grade students will use alongside the Amira Reading Program with the goal of enhancing their literacy skills.
Approximately two months ago, Mr. Holt engaged in a conversation with 4th grade students in Dr. Ellyne Downs classroom, discussing entrepreneurship. Following this presentation, Assistant Principal Erica Lundy, former BITHGROUP employee, approached Mr. Holt, inquiring whether Bithgroup Technologies would be open to partnering with her school to fully implement the Amira Reading Program. Without hesitation he enthusiastically agreed. Giving back to the communities they serve is a fundamental value at Bithgroup, particularly when it involves innovative workforce development efforts for youth. This commitment aligns seamlessly with the STEM Event that Bithgroup Technologies co-hosted with Black Sons on February 25, 2024, at the Reginald Lewis Museum. Approximately 100 students, ranging from kindergarten to twelfth grade, actively participated in this hands-on experiential learning STEM event.
The accompanying pictures capture Mr. Holt, Ms. Campbell, and Ms. Jenkins as they deliver the headsets to the students. The teacher, in turn, distributes these eagerly awaited devices to the young learners. The children’s excitement is palpable as they receive their new headsets.
In a conversation with Assistant Principal Lundy, she expressed her belief that these headsets will significantly help the students. By using them, students can enhance their focus and concentration during reading activities. Moreover, she anticipates that the headsets will contribute to improved overall reading test scores. The combination of technology and education promises exciting possibilities for these young minds!
